Last week, our first few days started off with an Aero Space team building activity called LMM or Lunar Module Landing! The objective of the activity is for students to work together lifting a ball placed an a small tube with 6 strings attached. Each student has their own string and their 5 teammates have to work together to launch the module into the air, travel approximately 6 feet, lower the module and then deliver it into a plastic cup. This activity helps to get the kids to comfortable with their new surroundings, classmates, and just being back in the classroom. It also helps to open the conversation around failure and working through the frustrations felt when in a group. It also opened up conversations around behaviors we hope to see or leave behind for the year. We had so much fun and had quite a bit of laughter from most groups. Was it perfect? Nope...but we sure learned a lot about what it takes to work as a team. Enjoy the pics and short clips!
